Your Role:
Virgin Galactic (VG) is seeking an Airframe & Powerplant Technician to support our Spaceline Assets Team. The candidate must have a desire to learn something new, enthusiasm for the new space industry and be able to mix aerospace enthusiasm and experience with spaceline maintenance development. Experience with King Air is preferred. This is a full-time position at Virgin Galactic’s aerospace facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico, with direct work at Spaceport America in New Mexico. Any candidate who applies must be able to relocate to Las Cruces, New Mexico or the surrounding area.

Your Mission
Perform assigned maintenance, preventive maintenance and repair work on the Spaceline Assets vehicles, including an Extra EA-300, a Beechcraft Baron, a flight simulator, and a spaceship training mock-up
Conduct inspections of Spaceline Asset aircraft per approved manufacturer manuals
Check, dismantle, adjust, repair, fabricate, remove and install all parts of aircraft, including powerplant systems, avionics equipment & instruments, fuel systems, ECS systems, and mechanical and hydraulic systems
Shall be required to return an aircraft to service after maintenance had been performed as allowed by the Spaceline GMM and the privileges of the airframe and powerplant license
Shall be required to complete and sign work records in connection with work performed
Will be expected to support Spaceflight System (SFS) maintenance activities as may be requested by the Spaceline Maintenance Manager
Support training program definition with direct input of hands-on knowledge from the vehicles via different mediums as appropriate
Assist with development of maintenance manual definition for vehicle systems and structures
Assist with the Spaceline GMM development and definition

What you bring
Must have a valid FAA approved Airframe and Powerplant license (A&P License)
Must have a driver’s license
Must have at least 3 years’ experience maintaining general aviation single- and multi-engine reciprocating aircraft in a busy shop environment
Must be familiar with procedures applicable to the various phases of maintenance, including 100-hr/Annual inspections, line maintenance, and AOG situations
Must be familiar with pertinent sections of the Federal Aviation Regulations, including but not limited to, Parts 43, 65, and 91.
Experience with composite aircraft is a plus (commercial or military aerospace application)
Experience on aerobatic aircraft is a plus
Experience on commercial aircraft and/or business jet aircraft is a plus
Inspection Authorization (IA) is a plus and will be taken in to consideration
Must display maturity of action and judgment and an excitement to learn
Must be able to work under pressure and fast paced environment
Must have High school diploma or equivalent
Must have good communication skills
Minimum 2 years of college level education preferred.
Willing to travel and be on-call and work any shift as required
Must be able to obtain an AOA badge

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
