Working with Aviation Recruiters

Originally published · Updated
Editorial guide by AMT Resource Hub

An aviation recruiter can be one useful channel in a job search. Prepare your information, clarify how submissions work, and compare the role’s terms before making a commitment.

Explain what you are looking for

Provide current certificate and rating details, relevant experience, preferred locations, and availability. Be clear about your interests in line maintenance, heavy maintenance, avionics, structures, or another area. Distinguish confirmed qualifications from qualifications you are still pursuing.

Ask about submissions and the assignment

Ask which employer and position will receive your résumé and keep a record of submissions. Clarify whether the job is contract, contract-to-hire, or direct employment. Discuss the reporting location, shift, duration, base pay, benefits, travel arrangements, and who will employ you.

Compare the written terms

Request written details before accepting. Ask about any fees, travel deductions, per diem conditions, or repayment commitments instead of assuming they work the same way across providers. Continue using employer career pages and aviation job boards so you can compare options independently.

Your next steps

  • Keep an accurate record of résumé submissions.
  • Clarify the employer and employment arrangement.
  • Review pay, travel, and benefit terms in writing.
